Community has always been at the root of what we believe in. Working out just wouldn't be the same without a built-in friend group cheering you on. You won't just find friends here, you will find family.
We like to treat our members to tons of fun community events! Our members enjoy intra-gym competitions, BBQ's, a HOLIDAY PARTY, and loads more.

"My first taste of Crossfit came in Austin Tx, about 4 1/2 years ago where I went with my daughter to her gym, and was first introduced to Sally, then cleans, wall balls and bear crawls. All in the hot Austin sun. I remember it being the hardest and worst physical exercise I had ever done, but it also opened my eyes to how out of shape I was. I was 30 lbs heavier than I am now. When I got back to KC I decided to give it a go and found the Groupon for a gym close to my house, met Mike Watson and Paul Seibold, and have never stopped doing CF since. I've tried doing exercises at home before, but if I don't have a commitment to a time and place, I eventually stopped exercising. I enjoy all aspects of my experience at BSCF: the community and social camaraderie, learning and practicing all the movements, and working hard, pushing myself and sweating. I never knew how great it feels to work up a good sweat! The long term benefits are real and tangible-I used to have elbow and knee pain, that's gone due to strengthening of those areas. I went from a size 36 waist to a 32-33 and I can see my abs. I have a general feeling of good health and wellness all the time (endorphins), which is priceless. I can honestly say that CF has put me in the best physical condition (you notice I didn't say "shape", I am 60 after all) of my life and I am very grateful for it. Especially at my age, I want to maintain muscle mass, because I see what happens to people in middle age who don't. So to all you young'uns out there, keep it up, you'll be glad you did when you celebrate the big 6-0!!"
I love BSCF because of the great people. It’s like a second home where everyone is encouraging you to do your best and get through each workout. I’ve met some amazing people at BSCF and have made some lifelong friends. It’s what I look forward to at the end of a long, hard day!
Just before my 33rd birthday, I went out on a limb and tried something completely out of my comfort zone. Prior to, I had been getting up at 530 every morning and going to the gym. These sessions were usually filled with the same components (30 min of cardio followed by some light weight lifting). While I had dropped some pounds on the scale, I really didn’t feel different. I needed a change, a challenge, and a community. I found a groupon for a month unlimited access at Brookside CrossFit. Honestly, I had no previous knowledge of the gym, but it was close to my house and when you have morning kid responsibilities, the gym had to fit my schedule and not the other way around. During the foundations class, Mike (the owner) challenged each participant to get in 12 classes in 4 weeks to really see if it was “for you”. Monday will mark the start of my 4th month. I’m grateful I found a place that embraces the normal, everyday person and pushes them to be their best self. I am physically and mentally stronger at 33 than any other part of my life. I have ridden the workout routine rollercoaster since college without ever really committing to anything...that is until now. I write this post as a time stamp of my progress for future reference but also as a bit of advice going into the holiday season and the dreaded New Year’s resolution season. It is important to find something you enjoy, but it’s just as important to find someone or something that will take you out of your comfort zone and push your limits. A good portion of people, including myself, cannot accomplish this on your own. Most people’s mind will avoid pain and stress and embrace the ordinary and comfortable. I’d like to thank Cory, Tyler, Tim, Austin, and Kelly (the Brookside Crossfit Coaches) and the many gluttons for punishment that I call my CrossFit family. If your interested in getting more info, reach out. If you commit, the results will come. The best part is, all you need to bring every day is a mental mantra to work hard.
